Time Out says

You’re invited to take part in Melbourne’s biggest one-day bike ride this October

It’s time to pump up the ol’ push bike tyres and start training, because after a two-year hiatus the United Energy Around the Bay riding event is back.

Taking place on October 9, this non-competitive and fully supported ride takes place around scenic Port Phillip Bay. It was first established in 1993, and is considered a rite of passage for bike riders in Melbourne.

There are six different routes, ranging from a family-friendly 20-kilometre cruise through Albert Park and Elwood to a 300-kilometre endurance challenge that loops right around the bay. Other rides on offer bypass beautiful checkpoints along the Mornington Peninsula, Williamstown, Mordialloc and the city’s iconic Beach Road. Whatever your age or fitness level though, just know there’s guaranteed to be an option that suits you.

Prices vary depending on the ride distance, but children under 15 ride free. Bicycle Network members will also save 10 per cent off their entry fee. And if you sign up before July 24, you’ll score a bonus 2022 event jersey – now that’s an opportunity too good to pass up.

So come together in celebration of our city, its cycling community and the simple joy of bike riding. For more information and to purchase your early bird ticket, visit the website.
